Work with us

Want to join our team? Our current vacancies are listed below.

Staff Nurse RGN

This is an opportunity for an RGN with an interest in womens health to join our growing team at Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust. As a part time role, we are looking for someone who can offer 10-15 hours per week. In return we can offer you flexi-time to work around another role of your lifestyle, including term-time only hours, and the opportunity to choose to work weekdays, evenings and/or weekends.

Lady McAdden is an established Essex based charity with the Head Office located in Leigh-on-Sea and has been supporting people in the early detection of breast cancer for over 45 years. As the only breast cancer charity in the UK to offer self-referred one-to-one nurse appointments it is essential that we expand our team in order to continue to serve the growing number of those who need us.

Our nurses offer face-to-face and remote (online and telephone) appointments and prearranged community educational events around Essex to educate and raise awareness of the early detection of breast cancer including individual advice regarding breast health, teaching how to self-check breasts and to offer support throughout the process of breast screening as well as breast cancer treatment.

Initially, you will need to attend our Head Office for a few days a week to receive training during daytime hours and as you become established you will work as part of the specialised nursing team to offer appointments and attend community educational events.

As part of the charity, you will also be expected to promote Lady McAdden and fundraising efforts in your day to day contact with women in their appointments or via the educational events that we offer (by this we mean understand what the charity needs and how someone may help us – it’s not all about money and sometimes people want to contribute differently. You will effectively need to recognise opportunities and talk about the other things we do or signpost to the appropriate person).

As mentioned above, your working hours can be relatively flexible to work around another role or your lifestyle. We are happy to talk about weekends, evenings or weekdays and it is anticipated as our programme grows, you will have the opportunity to do more.

The biggest requirement is that you want to help women and work as part of a team, although you will be required to work independently.

– Good clear communication skills

– A valid PIN

– At least 1 years RGN experience

– Valid driving licence

Volunteer Administration/Reception

With our nurses back at work, we need some help with our administation and reception. This may be based in our Unit in Westcliff or out in the Community (our nurses are now working from remote locations within community sites, like shops, beauty salons and community facilities).

You need good communication skills and be able to work emails and a computer (training will be given), most importantly be friendly and confident in dealing with people.

If you feel you might be what we are looking for please fill in one of our volunteer forms. (Opens in a new window).

Hours are flexible but we ideally need someone who can help on a regular basis. We do occaisionally have some evenings or weekends and would welcome people who can help with either.

Volunteer Driver & Donations Collection

We are seeking a volunteer driver to collect and move donations from our sites in Leigh and Tilbury. The role will be a few hours a week and can be fitted in to suit you . You will need your own vehicle that is suitable for moving items in and your car insurance will need to include volunteer work – most insurers will do this for free.

As this role requires you to visit people in their homes and collect items, you will need to be physically fit as some lifting will be required. The role also requires a DBS check which we will pay for.

To apply, please complete a volunteer application form. (opens in new window)
