Part Time Charity Shop Assistant - Tilbury

We are now seeking a new member to join our team as a part time retail assistant, working on a shift pattern to accommodate alternate Saturdays from 10am to 2pm, with a total each week of 16 hours

Job Summary

To undertake and assist with the day to day charity shop activities at the Lady McAdden Tilbury Shop. Serving and assisting members of the public and local community to generate sales income from items donated to enable the charity to provide its services in the Early Detection of Breast Cancer.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the shop is kept tidy and well stocked, with particular attention to Health & Safety requirements in accordance with the Charity’s procedures.

Ensure charity policy and procedures are followed and maintain at all times a professional and safe retail outlet that reflects the high standards of the Charity.

Sort donations and price in line with Charity policy.

Steam and prepare donations for the shop floor.

Operate the till and serve customers, ensure correct funds are recorded and processed.

Assist customers with their shopping needs.

Sort unsuitable items for correct disposal.

Assist with presentation of the shop windows, raffle or other promotions.

Key relationships

Managers/staff.

Volunteers and supporters.

Customers and the general public.

Key Skills

Excellent Communication skills.

Able to work on own initiative and as a team player.

Attention to detail.

Numeracy in handling money.

Note this role is to include alternate Saturdays – with the exception of pre-booked holidays – with the pro-rata’d equivalent of 5 weeks holiday running from April to March

Job Type: Part-time

Part-time hours: 16 per week

Salary: £7.49-£10.42 per hour

Schedule:

  • Weekend availability – with a requirement to work on a shift pattern including every other Saturday 10-2 and during the week 9-5, with some other hours as the business requires

Volunteer Driver & Donations Collection

We are seeking a volunteer driver to collect and move donations from our sites in Leigh and Tilbury. The role will be a few hours a week and can be fitted in to suit you . You will need your own vehicle that is suitable for moving items in and your car insurance will need to include volunteer work – most insurers will do this for free.

As this role requires you to visit people in their homes and collect items, you will need to be physically fit as some lifting will be required. The role also requires a DBS check which we will pay for.

Volunteer Administration/Reception

With our nurses back at work, we need some help with our administation and reception. This may be based in our Unit in Westcliff or out in the Community (our nurses are now working from remote locations within community sites, like shops, beauty salons and community facilities).

You need good communication skills and be able to work emails and a computer (training will be given), most importantly be friendly and confident in dealing with people.

Hours are flexible but we ideally need someone who can help on a regular basis. We do occaisionally have some evenings or weekends and would welcome people who can help with either.
