Hello, hoping to find you all safe and well in these strange times. One thing that does not change is our health- it carries on regardless be it a lockdown or not!
I thought I would give you an insight into what I do. I started working for Lady Mcadden back in Feb/March 2020. Only a few weeks before the first lockdown started. I was due to work in clinics and visit places to promote breast awareness……until a world pandemic got in the way!
Working remotely during the pandemic
So now, I work from home remotely. I am available Tuesday and Wednesday mornings- whilst my children are at school and playgroup. As well as Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
February was a very busy month for online and telephone appointments. I had a lot of ladies with similar concerns. Any changes should be checked out with your GP in these times but stress and hormones can do funny things to us too. A lot of ladies I spoke to were feeling anxious and more aware of their health due to the world we are living in at the moment.
Why I love my job
This is why breast awareness is so important as it is free, painless and we can do it in our own home at our own leisure. A lot of ladies did not have the confidence to check themselves, so an online session just recapping and reassuring really helped them.
So, I start my evening by making sure my children are fed and ready for bed…..it is then up to my husband to make sure they are in bed asleep by the time I log onto my computer! The video call system has worked really well and it is very easy to use – even for me! The appointments last 20 minutes, sometimes I have 4-5 per evening. I will make notes and if I need to follow anything up after the call I will do that after the appointments have finished.
As a Nurse, this is the first time I have had to work like this- it is a case of adapting and trying new ways to be able to do the same job, just in a different way. I hope you all keep safe and keep well!
I look forward to meeting some of you in person, as soon as we are able too.
