WHO We Are

Lady McAdden is an Essex based charity and one of the few Charities in the UK to offer one-to-one nurse appointments, both remotely and face to face, without the need to be referred by a GP.

As an independent charity, we rely on donations, fundraising and specific grant funding when available. We are not connected to the NHS although we work closely with them to ensure that all patients get seen by a GP.

Lady McAdden is a welcoming charity, here to support anyone before, during and after Breast Cancer.

WHAT We DO

We raise the awareness of the early detection of Breast Cancer through education and advice. We do this by providing up-to-date practical advice on how to be breast aware, as well as offering support and advice, combined with educational information.

We base our information on the latest scientific research and developments and work closely with the NHS to ensure that we compliment the 5-point plan of Breast Screening.

As well as promoting Breast Awareness and the early detection of Breast Cancer, we also support people who have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer both during and after their treatment, and are developing services that will offer a holistic approach to deepen this support.

Signs & Symptoms

Knowing what to look and feel for are essential when self-checking, by doing this regularly, you will get to know what is normal for your body.

It’s #NotJustALump, you also need to be aware of:

  • Armpit Pain
  • Visible lump
  • Dimpling of the skin
  • Thickening of the skin
  • Change in skin texture
  • Puckering (skin being pulled in)
  • Skin irritation, such as rashes or redness
  • Nipple changes (change in colour, direction, shape or size, as well as itching and discharge)

For people who have periods, wait a few days after the end of your period to check. This gives your hormones time to settle.

If you notice any signs, symptoms or changes contact your GP for a Breast Health Check.
