Breast Support Services

cropped-LadyMcAddenLogo-favicon.png

Our mission is to support the early detection of breast cancer in the UK. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, with 1 in 7 developing breast cancer in their lifetime. Almost 50% of breast cancer is first detected by women themselves and yet 49% of women say they don’t check themselves on a regular basis.

We provide self-referred breast awareness consultations to women who are 18 and over with specialist nurses. They provide confidential breast awareness advice via a face-to-face appointment (for local women, in normal times) or secure video appointment or telephone call to any woman who wants one, without having to see a GP first. Checking your breasts regularly can make a huge difference in early detection, whether you’re 25 or 75. By learning what’s normal for you, and understanding potential early signs of breast cancer, you can make sure you get the screening, help and support you may need, as soon as possible.

I had a breast awareness appointment with Natalie this morning, I just wanted to say thank you so much.

Natalie was so patient, kind and understanding. I had been feeling quite anxious before coming to the appointment, but Natalie put me at ease straight away.

I can’t thank you enough!

Thank you all for being there, you all do such an amazing job.

Just a quick note to say thank you to Liz for speaking to our dining club at Rochford Golf Club on Tuesday.
It is very good that you Lady McAdden ladies come out into the community to talk about Cancer. To also keep a check on ourselves and how important it is to do so.

JK 9/11/22

It was lovely to have support from you as I said before, as at this stage I don’t want to worry my family but I really needed to speak to someone when it was all in limbo. Now I have an appointment I can look ahead and prepare for come what may.   My husband has been a star but he has struggled as well and I didn’t want to put it all on him.  Charities like Lady McAdden are so important and until you find yourself in this situation you just don’t realise how vital they are.

Thank you again for taking the time to help me and to prepare me for the road ahead.  I simply cant thank you enough.

You were amazing when I found a mystery lump so if I can give something back in some small way, I will.

Can I just say thank you to Emma for last Wednesday talk. Our ladies found it very informative and has sparked some action within the group.

I had a concern appointment with Natalie at 7:30 today- she was kind, informative and talked me through all my options in a very clear and concise way. I went in feeling worried, and she put me at ease by breaking down what I needed to do to check myself properly and also by her patient and friendly manner.

Thank you Natalie!
ES 7/7/22

I just wanted to thank Nurse Natalie for a pleasant and informative appointment this afternoon.

Natalie was welcoming, easy to talk to and explained everything very clearly.  I left feeling more knowledgeable and very reassured.

Thank you!
